A young girl with long dark hair smiling in front of a dark curtain background, with text and graphic elements on the image. The text reads 'Nell Peggy Cline Smith, July 17, 2007 - October 6, 2024. Follow your dreams, Don't be afraid, you can do it.' There is a small graphic of a bookshelf with a face in the lower right corner.

On October 6 2024 Nell died in a car accident right after completing a video for her upcoming album release.

Nell's family is now on a mission to commemorate their beautiful daughter who achieved so much in her short 17 years by setting up a fund that will provide support and funding for young musicians.

The Nell Smith Memorial Fund will empower young musicians who share Nell’s dedication to pursuing a music career. It will provide grants and other support helping promising artists overcome financial barriers and achieve their dreams.

Our mission is to ensure that Nell’s memory inspires others to chase their passion for music with the same joy and determination she embodied.

A man with curly gray hair, wearing a red jacket and an eye patch, smiles while holding a water bottle. A girl in a red costume that resembles a character from the movie 'The Little Mermaid', with a hood that has a fish-like face, also smiles.
A young woman with long light brown hair and wearing a red patterned jacket stands next to a man with dark curly hair, playing an electric guitar. The scene appears to be on a stage or backstage area with dark curtains and equipment in the background.

We aim to raise $100,000 and give away $10,000 for the next ten years to deserving young artists.

If you work in the music industry

Perhaps you would like to offer your expertise to the society. Maybe you could offer studio time to a deserving applicant or mentor someone for a short period of time, you may want to rework one of Nell’s songs for a future release, provide something to go on a b-side of a record store day release (Nell has unreleased material that we hope to get out on future record store days), you could also simply share information about the fund with your audience on social media or perhaps you have another idea, we’re all ears. It all helps. Get in touch if you have ideas.

Most importantly, play Nell’s music

Play it in your headphones, out of your speakers, in the car, on the beach, at a party, gift it to someone. We are hopeful that her voice will never fade and her gift to all of us was the music she worked on. Help us all remember her by turning the volume up.

A legacy of Love and Support

The creation of the Nell Smith Music Fund is not just a tribute to Nell; it’s a way to ensure her story continues to inspire others. Her passion for music and her generous heart touched so many. By supporting this initiative, you will help create opportunities for young musicians to follow in her footsteps, ensuring her legacy endures.

With gratitude,

Nell’s Family
